Increasing volunteering in Pitsea – Change of Date
Do you provide a service in Pitsea, are Pitsea based and are working and seeking volunteers? Then we would like to invite you to a meeting to discuss and help shape the campaign and help us find the best people to volunteer in this way.
We are writing to invite you to participate in an exciting campaign to increase volunteering in Pitsea, as well as improving health and well-being in the area.
Partners within the Basildon Borough Council area, have identified improving physical activity and reducing social isolation among older people as one of the key strategic challenges that could be addressed by a campaign focused on recruiting volunteers to help with this. Pitsea has been identified as an area within the district where a campaign like this could make a real difference to the community.
We are looking to recruit people aged over-55 who may have some time on their hands to help out in their local community and make a difference. We will be asking them to support older people in improving their physical activity as well as reducing loneliness of those who are being supported.
This initiative, which is being supported by the Basildon CVS, Essex County Council, and Basildon Borough Council, needs your help and support to be effective.
A briefing for organisations/groups is being held at The Place in Pitsea on Monday July 17th 6.30 – 8.30 pm (to include a light supper).
At the meeting, you will help shape some of the key messages we will be promoting. We also need to:
– understand what volunteering opportunities exist so that an ‘ask’ can be developed and communications materials finalised
– identify which Pitsea organisations would want to be involved so that we can develop a tailored communications plan
– consider the role of these volunteers and who the best people are to do this role
– identify measures of success so that an evaluation can take place that will show the benefits to individuals, to Pitsea, and to partners
Specific Requirements – As a service we are committed to taking positive steps to understand and respond to the specific access needs of users. If you have access or dietary eeds please let us know at the time of booking.
