Thriftwood Activity
Day for young people from Queens Park
Young people from Queens Park, Billericay and
their friends went to an activity day at Thriftwood Scouts Centre
in Brentwood on the 23rd February 2008. The whole day event was
organised by the Community Development Worker, Artak, and was funded
by the Youth Opportunity Fund that the group of young people
from Queens Park received in Dec 2007.
16 young people were picked up from
Hannakins Farm Community Centre and taken to Brentwood,
Thriftwood Activity Centre. The group was then split into two,
which gave everyone a chance to take part in activities, that
included Cresta Run, Climbing, Rifle Shooting, Adventure Ground
and Ice Climbing. Snacks were provided after each activity to
keep up their energy, followed by lunch at the Squirrel Lodge. The
day finished at 5 pm, when the bus brought everyone back to
Hannakins Farm, where their parents were waiting.
All the activities, including the bus ride
from Hannakins to Thriftwood and back, and the lunch break, were
FREE of charge for the young people.
