COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT
Artak
Poghosyan has been employed at Basildon Billericay and
Wickford Council for Voluntary Service (BBWCVS) since January
2006 as the Community Development Worker. The project was funded
by Fair Share Trust Programme in Basildon District and managed
by Essex Community Foundation.
The 3 year programme was aimed at
two identified areas by Fair Share Trust: Queens Park in
Billericay and Craylands/Fryerns East in Basildon. During the
three years of the project several milestones were achieved in
both areas, including the creation of resident groups, youth
clubs, annual fun days, installation of bus shelters, bus
service replacement, training events for residents, quarterly
newsletters. Artak has also managed to source over £35,000
external funding to run programmes for young people, activity
trips, IT training and other projects.
The funding for the project ended in
December 2008.

BBWCVS submitted a new grant
application to Essex Community Foundation to continue the
project for another 3 years based on the successes achieved in
the communities.
We are happy to announce that the
funding application was approved by the Fair Share Trust Panel
and funding has been secured until Dec 2011.
Artak will continue working in both areas with increased
responsibilities as a Community Development Manager.
