COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PRACTITIONERS NETWORK

Welcome to Community Development Practitioners Network (CDPN) webpage!

The Community Development Practitioners Network (CDPN) evolved from the action plans of two Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) sub groups, the Working Neighbourhoods Group and the Basildon Health Partnership, who recognised the need for a coordinated approach in the delivery of community development in the Basildon district. The CDPN is the first stage toward this target and is designed to bring together people working in the area of community development in the Basildon district.

With the common bond of working with communities practitioners in the area of community development can profit from the experience of other practitioners and this is one of the goals of the CDPN. With representatives from across a wide range of organisations from the Council, Registered Social Landlords, the Health service, voluntary sector etc the CDPN not only offers a forum to share best practice with peers but also will be working to develop the skills of CD practitioners in the district.

With the success of the community development approach more and more organisations are using community development practice even if the job title may not expressly state it. Workers in tenant participation or health delivery can and do have an element of community development practice within their roles so the CDPN is open to anyone who uses CD in their work.
